Wisconsin is one of TEN states that doesn't offer film production incentives and one of FOUR that doesn't even have a film office. With support from local and national celebrities and hardworking local talent, Action! Wisconsin is a statewide coalition that seeks legislation to encourage more movies get made here, bringing jobs, investment and tourism.

As video producers ourselves, Northern Ground of course supports these initiatives for selfish reasons, but more broadly, as people who love Wisconsin, we want to raise its profile and establish its brand as a unique and special place (beyond all the serial killers).

After discovery sessions with a newly-formed steering committee made up of film professionals from all across the state, we developed the naming, branding, campaign voice and website for Action! Wisconsin. We also shot several videos explaining the complex legislation to bolster the efforts of hired lobbyists in the state capital, Madison, all in time for the motions to be filed in the most recent session.

Trying to get laws passed that require new expenditures is always challenging, and may take years, but we think Wisconsin is worth it. Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Minnesota are investing in their states’ film, TV and advertising industries and are attracting significant outside investment by offering meaningful state production incentives.

Our state is falling behind, but we hope to soon change that.
